Obituary
The angels took Bonnie home the evening of January 26th, 2025. She was surrounded by many family members in her final days and moments as she peacefully left us behind.
She was born on May 19th, 1942, in Middletown, New York to Fred Engelsman and Minerva Geffken. She grew up as an only child in Wanaque, New Jersey. She graduated from Lakeland Regional High School. For the first half of her life, she lived in small towns in New Jersey and New York. In her second half of her life she resided in Fort Myers, Florida.
She loved animals and nature (her favorite being wolves), Native American culture, collecting rocks and playing the machines at the arcade casinos (Grandma Land as we called it). She was a very generous lady that always tried to help people less fortunate than herself if she could. She had six children; however, many people called her Mom and Grandma. She would brag about her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, so many that she lost count. She lived a very simple life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Engelsman, her mother, Minerva (Midge) Van Genderen, and two step-fathers, Albert Spangler and Bill Van Genderen, her daughter, Karen, her son, Mark, and three grandsons, Daniel, Shane & Brandon.
She is survived by her four living children, Alisa, Gary (Gail), Tara (Michael) and Michael, her grandchildren, Jimmy, Sean, Gary, Bre, Nichole, Amy, Tonilynn, Cassie, John, Kegan, Tyler, Ashleigh, Trey and many great grandchildren. She is also survived by her longtime partner, Phil.
She has indeed left a long line of relatives to carry on. She will be missed by so many that loved her for years to come. But may she now join her loved ones that she so sorely missed and find peace and happiness.
