Obituary

Richard Lee “Brodie” Chism, 57, Edgewater FL died Wednesday, October 7, 2007 at home. Brodie was born in Highland Park, Michigan. He came to this area in 1978 from Hazel Park, MI and worked for the next 20 years as a mechanic for the New Smyrna Beach Utilities Commission. Brodie enjoyed people and liked to give folks his things they told hi they liked. His family remembered him as a great storyteller and that he gave everyone a nickname.  Among his other pastimes he was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed fishing, boating, music and dancing. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 34 years Glynis, daughters Nicole Chism of New Smyrna Beach, Erin Wiener of Edgewater, brother Roger of Roscommon, MI, sisters Cindy Chism of Troy, MI and Becky Dandy of Grayling, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Sandy. The family has requested donation to Hospice of Volusia Southeast Care Center 4240 S Ridgewood Avenue Edgewater FL 32141. Life Tribute Celebration will be 5:00 PM Saturday, October 10 at Baldwin Brothers Memorial Chapel 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM until service time. Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach FL 32169 is in charge of cremation arrangements.

    Glynis and family,
    Please accept our deepest sympathy in your loss. Rick will sure be missed. I will especially miss discussions on the "Old Eastowne Theater Days" on his visits to Michigan.
