Obituary

Carl Leon Herald, Sr., 76, of Edgewater, Fl went to be with the Lord on November 9, 2009 surrounded by his loving family.  Mr. Herald was born February 14, 1933 to Wayne Alexander Herald, Sr. and Edna Marie Cornes Herald in Crum, WV.  He married his high school sweetheart on January 28, 1954 in Williamson, WV.  Carl was drafted into the Army during the Korean War where he proudly served as a Tank Driver.  He was ordained in Ministry in 1987 at Dunlow First United Baptist Church in West Virginia where he was previously serving as a Deacon.  Carl was preceded in death by one child, Deloris Lavonn Herald and his mother and father.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Elsie Little Herald; son Carl Leon Herald, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl of Orange City; daughter, Tammy Herald Jerkins and her husband, Thomas of Mount Holly, NC; three grandchildren,  Carl Holcomb, Stephanie gulley and Blake Herald; four great grandchildren, Tyler Gulley, Sienna Holcomb, Tanner Gulley and Carly Holcomb; two special children, Weo and Ginger; brothers, Edward Herald and Wayne Herald, Jr.; two sisters, Doris Herald Asbury and Lois Herald Justice and many nieces, nephews, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.  10:00AM at Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169 on November 13, 2009 (map/driving directions) 6:00PM to 8:00 PM at Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society 1 North Causeway New Smyrna Beach, FL 32169 on November 12, 2009 (map/driving directions) Following the visitation family will receive friends at the Pelican Cove West Clubhouse in Edgewater for light refreshments. 2:30PM, Friday, November 13, 2009 at Florida National Cemetery 6502 SW 102 Avenue Bushnell, FL 33513 (map/driving directions)

    Elsie and the family I am so sorry for your lose. I know there are no words that I can say to make you feel better other than I'm here for any of you and Love you all very much. We have many great memories of Uncle Carl and spent many good times together. He was a wonderful person and he fought a hard long battle and won with him being in Heaven now and a much better place. I love you all and sorry I wasn't able to be there but you are in my thoughts and prayers. I know from experience it's very hard losing your husband but you have your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren that need you in their lives and you are a strong person and I know you will be there for them through all the grief you will encounter everyday. Love ya much.

    I will miss you Uncle Carl, but you now are in the presence of the Lord and I wouldn't change that for anything. We grieve for our loss, but are joyous for your gain. You have fought the fight, kept the faith and won the race. That is what we all strive for. Love to Aunt Elsie, Tammy, Carl Jr and all the family. Wish I could be with you.

    I will always have great respect for my Uncle Carl. He always made me feel like I was one of his children. Loyal,dependable,and true to his convictions.
