Obituary
On Thursday, December 15, 2022, Carmel Coromina Sniffen passed away in Baltimore, Maryland at the age of 82. Born in Cebu City, Philippines to Juan and Anita Coromina, she was a lifelong golf aficionado who won numerous tournaments and titles including the Philippine Women’s Amateur Championship in 1970 and 1971, and was just 1 stroke shy of it again in 1987. She represented the Philippines in several international tournaments. After immigrating to the United States in the 1970s she became a passionate fan of football and the Dallas Cowboys. She lived in Missouri, Hawaii, Germany, and mostly in California and Florida. She lived in The Villages her last 18 years. She retired from Solano County (California) Health and Social Services after 14 years of civil service.
Carmel leaves behind her four children, Roxanne, Annette, Bettina, and Chad, four grandchildren, Miguel, Nicholas, Dominic, and Daniel, two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Isabel, sons-in-law Alfredo (“J”) Asuncion, Jr. and Damon Jones, and her partner, David Bell.
A funeral mass will be held for her on Tuesday, February 7 at 10am at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Place, Lady Lake, Florida, followed by a Celebration of Life/reception still on February 7 from 6pm to 9:30pm at the Paradise Recreation Center, 1403 Paradise Drive, The Villages, Florida.
