Obituary

Carol Anne Bylaska, a loving wife, dedicated teacher, and a pillar of strength in her community, passed away on September 6, 2023, in the comfort of her home in Leesburg, Florida. She was born on October 7, 1954, in Detroit, Michigan and her life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and devotion.

Carol’s life was marked by several significant accomplishments, but the one she held most dear was her marriage to her wonderful husband, W. Paul Bylaska. Together, they shared a bond that was unbreakable and a love that served as an inspiration to all who knew them.

She embarked on a fulfilling career as an educator, becoming a teacher who touched the lives of countless students with her wisdom and guidance. Her passion for education was evident in the positive impact she had on her students’ lives.

Carol’s greatest source of pride was being a mother and grandmother. She showered her children and grandchildren with love and care, creating cherished memories that will endure for generations. Her joy in becoming a great-grandmother to Asher was immeasurable.

Among her many interests, Carol was an avid cook, a talented singer, and a devoted fan of football and basketball, with a particular passion for the Ohio State Buckeyes, Dallas Cowboys, Kansas Jayhawks, and Murray State Racers. She loved playing the game Bang, exploring new places through travel, and treasured spending time with her family and friends, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Carol will always be remembered for her infectious smile, her unwavering positivity, and her contagious laughter. Her outgoing and fun-loving personality made her the life of any gathering, and her extraordinary patience, especially with children, left a lasting impact on those she encountered.

Carol was an active member of several organizations, including the AMVETS Auxiliary, 4th Avenue Adventure after-school children’s program, and the Clarion UMC Praise Team. Her contributions to these groups and her community were deeply appreciated.

She is survived by her loving husband, W. Paul Bylaska; her children, Troy Yates and wife Wendy Yates, Stephanie Smith and husband David Smith, John Bylaska, and Bill Bylaska; her 12 adoring grandchildren; and her great-grandson, Asher, as well as her brother, David Jewell.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Barbara Jewell.

A private Celebration of Life for Carol Bylaska will be held for family from 1-3 pm on Saturday, September 16th, at the Clubhouse at Shangri-La and from 2-4 pm on September 17th at AMVETS Post 1992 in Mount Dora, open to family and friends. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite memory and song to join in celebrating her remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AMVETS Post 1992 Auxiliary Scholarship Fund and the American Cancer Society, in honor of Carol’s enduring spirit and her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Carol Anne Bylaska’s legacy of love, laughter, and community impact will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Carol. She was a great lady and did so many wonderful things. I will always remember the Kentucky Derby parties and the food was amazing that she made. She will be missed by so many I'm sure. She had a warm and welcoming smile that made everyone feel right at home even if they had just met her.

Paul, you have our sympathies and prayers to you and your family.
