Obituary
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Carole Rose Firlie, age 79, who unexpectedly passed away at The Villages Regional Hospital on September 28, 2019. She left us way too soon.
Carole was born on November 9, 1939 in Cumberland, Maryland. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, P. Edward Firlie, her three sons and spouses, Michael & Leslie of Zurich of Switzerland, Marc & Marialena of Timonium, Maryland, Danny & Brenda of Sarasota, Florida and her beautiful daughter Meghan of Richmond, Virginia, twelve very loved grandchildren: Marissa, Lucas, Brendan, Julialyn, Alexis, Renate, Cole, Benjamin, Jade, Mikayla, Quinn, & Parker, and her only living sibling Danny Keller. She is preceded in death by her parents Wallace and Mary Agnes Keller, sister Jeannine (Joe) Monteleone and brother Wallace Keller Jr.
Prior to moving to The Villages Carole and Ed lived in Cumberland, Maryland for 66 years. After raising their four children and leaving a legacy of Firlies and Kellers (maiden name), they moved to The Villages for the next adventurous chapter of their lives. Carole was very active in The Villages. She was active in numerous clubs: yoga, book, bunco, belly dancing, clogging, mahjong, water aerobics, and most recently the beach club. Never a dull moment. She attended Saint Timothy Catholic Church and was a member of the Women’s Guild. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, cheering loudly for her favorite baseball Tampa Bay Rays, and football team, the Redskins, puzzles, watercolor painting, decorating, shopping and most importantly spending time with her friends and family. Carole was a devoted and fun-loving spouse, incredible mother and spectacular grandmother aka “GiGi”.
Ed & Carole recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Carole was just shy of her 80th birthday. Please come join us in celebrating the wonderful life of Carole Rose Firlie, she will be sorely missed by all!
Memorial services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Saint Mark The Evangelist Catholic Church.
I ran across Carole's obituary while looking at the Times-News online. I'm very sorry to read about her passing. The last time I saw her (or any of you) was 1979. I remember well however, what a nice person she was and how she always made me feel welcome in her home.

Fun with Carole
I am most saddened to hear of the passing of Carole. An enormously loving wife and mother, Carole perpetually exemplified devotion to her faith. Indeed, she was among the rarest of examples of sincerity, kindness and compassion, Carole always shared her gentle loving spirit with encouragement. When Marc, Dick Trask and I had the privilege of attending MD Boys State at Ft. Meade during the summer of our Junior year, Carole went out of her way to extend kind words of encouragement upon our return. She was always eager to share her selfless kindness with others. Her kindness was only equaled by a sense of humor that illuminated all in her presence. A shining example of faith and family providing the foundation of a fulfilled life, to be sure, her spirit was authentic. That authentic spirit of kindness is omnipresent in Marc. I am certain that she is rejoicing in the life assured to us by our faith. She now cheers among the angels and her endless love will be a source of strength that will sustain each of you and the beautiful Firlie family. I am sending up prayers for your family. I was blessed to have been the benefactor of her words of encouragement to a poor kid from North Cumberland. If there is anything that I can do for your family, please do not hesitate to reach me.
