Caroline C. Dye, 81, of Port Orange, FL, passed away on August 1 at the Halifax Health Hospice Care Center, Port Orange.  She and her husband, Larry, have been snowbirds since 2003, splitting their time between Florida and Cuba, New York.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 61 years, Larry, daughter Debby (Charlie) Slaight, grandchildren David and Nichol Dye, Ali, Abi and Tom Slaight, her cousin and best friend, Nancy Trinowski, and other extended family members.
Caroline was preceded in death by her son, Dennis, her parents Herman & Ethel (Snyder) Holland, and her brother, PFC David Holland, USMC.
Caroline was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, Past President of the Allegany County Republican Women, an avid golfer in the Cuba area and a member of the Crane Lakes WGA. She served one term on the Board of Directors at Cuba Memorial Hospital and also staffed the fire reporting phones for the Cuba Fire Department for several years before the system was transferred to the 911 center at the county office. She worked for CBS and TNN on the production team at various NASCAR races.
At Caroline’s request, there will be no funeral services. Burial will be in Cuba, NY at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials in her name to Cuba Circulating Library, 39 East Main Street, or Cuba Cemetery Association Maintenance Fund, 17 Maple Street, Cuba, NY 14727 or to Halifax Health Hospice Fund Development, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129.

    So sorry to hear of the passing of my childhood friend, Caroline. We had lost touch over the years but still recall the fun times growing up together in Springtown - in fact, right next door to each other! If I wasn't at her house, she was at mine.     Much sympathy to Debby, Mr, Dye, the Dye and Slaight grandchildren and to the all the family and friends. Caroline was an accomplished woman and her daughter, Debby, is my friend and she must be one of Caroline's finest accomplishments.
