Obituary

Caroline Langfitt Glenn, of Ocala Florida; loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, passed away quietly on 18 November 2017.  She was born 26 February 1935 in Clarkesburg, WVa., the only child of Walter and Lillian Langfitt.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Raymond D. Glenn; her son, Steven W. Glenn and his wife Margaret C. Mullins of Olney, Maryland;  a son-in-law, John Engelhardt, North Palm Beach, Fla.;  Grandsons, Major Matthew Engelhardt, stationed in Dusseldorf, Germany, and Navy Diver Second Class Andrew Engelhardt, stationed in Oahu, Hawaii; Granddaughter Casey Rae Engelhardt, an elementary school teacher in Oahu, Hawaii.  She survived her daughter, Carol Rae Engelhardt of North Palm Beach, who passed in July 2003.

Mrs. Glenn was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority attending Ohio State University, then transferring to the University of Florida where she graduated in Journalism in 1956.  She married Raymond in January 1957, and they lived in Miami, Florida, where Mrs. Glenn worked as a swim instructor for Dade County pools; and also as a substitute teacher, bank teller, and finally as co-owner of Matthews Nursery – a family-owned wholesale plant nursery.

In 2002 Ray and Caroline moved to Oak Run, where they became active in several of the social amenities the community offered.  Mrs. Glenn enjoyed participating in Bay Tree activities and was a member of the synchronized swimming club.  Walking her dog and making friends with her neighbors was a particular passion.  Mrs. Glenn was known throughout her life as a lover and friend of all animals, who never met a stray she couldn’t keep.

The family will receive friends at the Oak Run Bella Cocina, on 26 November, noon.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to: Legacy House, 9505 SW 110th St. Ocala, Fl. 34481.

Arrangements by Baldwin Brothers Funerals & Cremations 11250 SW 93rd Ct. Rd. Ocala, FL 352-236-7813.
