Obituary
Carolyn Joanne Calado slipped away peacefully at hospice from cancer on August 11, 2023.
Carolyn was born on July 3, 1947. She arrived 10 minutes after her twin sister, Marilyn and 3 years before her brother, Jim. She was the daughter of Jim and Mary Obenour.
Carolyn grew up in Redford Township, Michigan; attended Fisher Elementary School, Pierce Middle School, and Thurston High School. After one year at Northern Michigan University she worked in customer service at AAA in Ann Arbor for 16 years.
In 1970 Carolyn married Tom Calado and gave birth to Joe in 1971 and Kristen in 1977. After she divorced, Carolyn moved to Florida with Karen Kohs. They built a home in Casselberry and resided there for 40 years.
Carolyn worked in the accounting and payroll department at Jacobson’s stores in Winter Park for 15 years. She then attended Seminole College and worked from home as a medical transcription editor.
Carolyn was known for her kind and caring nature. She was a proud and loving mother. A thoughtful and warmhearted daughter, sister, and aunt. A devoted life partner. A loyal and faithful friend. Carolyn loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and crochet afghans. She was an avid fan of all Michigan sports, especially the Detroit Tigers baseball team.
Carolyn is survived by her son Joe Calado; daughter Kristen Calado; sister Marilyn Kosla and her husband Mike; brother Jim Obenour and his wife Lisa; and partner Karen Kohs. Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Obenour; her father, James Obenour.
We all miss her so much but know that she is at peace. Carolyn’s love and spirit are eternal and our memories everlasting.
Carolyn meant so much more to me than her being my daughter's partner.
We met in 1984 and worked together at Jacobson's for nearly ten years, at
which time I retired. By this time Carolyn had long become a beloved member
of the Kohs family. She was a devoted and loving daughter, mother, and sister.
Carolyn had a great talent to excel in everything she decided to undertake.
I will miss her.
Dick Kohs
And I hope your singing in the angel's choir
And I hope the angels know what they have
I'll bet it's so nice up in heaven since you have arrived"
"I hope your fear and pains have gone away.
Karen, Joe and Kristen may your memories ease your pain. Love you !
