Obituary

Carolyn Elfman Kidd, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Naples, FL, on December 24, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.  She was the daughter of the late Oscar and Augustina Elfman and leaves behind a sister Phyllis Kostegan of Revere, MA.  Beloved wife of the late James F. Kidd.  Loving mother to Dana Kidd of CA, David Kidd and his wife Sharon of Gilbert, AZ, Michael Kidd and wife Heidi of Boxboro, MA, and Kristine Batten and her husband Michael of Westminster, MA.  Cherished grandmother of Amanda Vandehey and husband Nick, Bob Kidd, Sarah Kidd, Lisa Kidd, Jack Batten, Philip Kidd and Olivia Batten.  Great-grandmother of Jonah.  She shared a lifetime of love and companionship with her mini schnauzers, in more recent years Bogart and Izzy.

Carolyn was a graduate of Malden Highschool and later went on to be a successful realtor for many years.  But if you asked her what her greatest accomplishment was in life, she would tell you being a mother.  All she ever wanted to do was get married and have babies.  Carolyn loved to travel and enjoy time on the beach or working in her garden on Cape Cod where she spent her summers each year.  She also loved being in Naples, FL during the cold winter months where she had many amazing friends.  She could be found socializing at the Tiki or soaking up the sun at Lely Resort.  She was passionate about singing and could be heard at any moment belting out a favorite tune, a nursery rhyme, or a song she wrote from the heart.  And if you knew Carolyn well, you knew that she prided herself on being beautiful and young at heart.  Perfect strangers could be heard saying, “NO, there is no way you’re 84,” and she would beam with joy.  She was beautiful inside and out; a caring individual who touched so many lives.

At a later date, family and friends will be invited to the funeral Mass for her at the St. Elizabeth of Hungary, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
