Obituary

Carolyn Mildora Shuemake-Pryor, age 79 ½, died of cardiopulmonary arrest on February 2, 2024, while in the hospital in Orlando, Fl.

Carolyn is survived by her son, Gregory A. Smith, of Orlando, Fl.; her sister, Joyce Shuemake, of Winchester, VA.; her brothers, Leslie Ervin Shuemake, of Ocala, Fl.; Winston Shuemake, of Orlando, Fl.; three nieces, three nephews, a grandniece and grandnephew.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Danny R. Pryor, of Winter Springs, Fl.; her father, David Shuemake, of Belleview, Fl.; and, her mother, Gwendolyn C. Montgomery, of Cocoa Beach, Fl.; two half-sisters, Martha and Rebecca Shuemake, both of Gainesville, Fl.; and a niece.

Carolyn was born on July 27, 1944, in Mayo, Fl, to parents David Shuemake and Gwendolyn C. Montgomery.  She graduated from Clermont High School in 1964 and Lake City Junior College in 1967 with an Associates of Art Degree.  A lifelong resident of Florida, Carolyn moved to the Orlando area in 1971 where she worked as the office manager for the Orlando design firm of Interiors By Gwen until she retired.

Carolyn had a deep love for her family and was most devoted to her father and mother, her nieces and nephews, her brothers and sister.  She enjoyed warm relationships with her extended family throughout her lifetime, as well as her friends from Clermont High School.

A very outgoing and friendly person, she always involved herself in her community.  She enjoyed decorating, cooking, theatre, and bird watching.  An avid animal lover, she never saw a stray cat that she would not help and was devoted to her favorite breed dog, the Maltese.

The Family would like to thank the staff and residents at Solaris Healthcare in Orlando for the care, compassion and friendship extended to Carolyn as a resident from 2019 until her passing.

In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in her memory at (alivingtribute.org) or a donation to any organization that will improve the lives of the homeless, domestic and wild animals.  All services are private.

My sister, I will continue to think about you with deep love and devotion every day of my life as I have for all our lives. Rest, you have been through more than most can imagine. I hope you are watching a thousand singing bright red cardinals with your darling pups in your arms rocking away in peaceful bliss in a life none on earth known. If I had just one hope for the after life, it is that you have rejoined all those you loved so dearly.
