Carolyn Sue Shelley, of Ocala, Florida, passed peacefully on February 8th, 2024, surrounded by her son, Tim, two granddaughters, Mallory and Brette, and her dear friends.

Carolyn was born in Decatur, IL on September 16th, 1945, to Melvin and Jean Hardy. Miss Shelley is preceded in death by her life partner of more than 30 years, Willian Borel and their beloved Rocky Dog, parents Melvin and Jean Hardy, and two sons Robert Shelley and Damon Shelley.

She is survived by her Sister Judith Hardy, son Timothy Shelley, two granddaughters Mallory
Mathias (Chadd Mathias) and Brette Shelley, along with three great-grandchildren, Wyatt (8),
Charlotte (6), and Rhett (4), and two step-grandchildren, Mykenzi (21) and Madysen (18).
Carolyn’s passions were many as she spent her younger years on the lake boating and water
skiing, camping, and traveling the states in the family RV with her boys. For seventeen years, she was a staple at the State Bank of Latham as she worked there while also raising her family.

Once her boys were grown, she made the move to Florida to be closer to her parents and sister. Florida brought new hobbies such as snorkeling, golfing, line-dancing, and even the occasional motorcycle ride. She was also a lover of fine wine, seafood, and baking.
As she entered retirement from working at AAA for many years, the travel bug continued to bite as her and Bill enjoyed seeing the world by cruise ship and explored exotic locations like the Panama Canal, Turkey, Spain, and more. In recent years, she found new passions with
crocheting, bible study group, sudoku, mahjong, bunco, and cooking elaborate meals for

Even though her passions were traveling and entertaining with friends, the loves of her life were her family! Carolyn lived for her three boys and made sure they were raised with a strong and caring heart. Tough and courageous, she tackled the job of “boy mom” with a fearless attitude and never wavered at the challenges she faced. With a warrior heart, she instilled strength, determination, work ethic, and love, to not only her three boys, but her beloved granddaughters. Carolyn Shelley, adoringly known as “GG” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be forever cherished and deeply missed by all.

A graveside service will be held at Fountains Memorial Park in Homosassa, FL on March 9, 2024 at 2:00pm
