Obituary

Catherine Crawford Moretz, 75, of Estero, FL passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018.   She was born December 12, 1942 in Jackson, MI to the late Robert and Ethel Crawford.

Cassie is survived by her loving husband, Jim; children Kevin Frye and his wife Pam of Kingston, TN, Douglas Frye and his wife Melissa of Bonaire, GA, and Julia Wright of Franklin, TN; six grandchildren, Taylor, Reagan, Katherine, Gloria, Nicholas and Toni; as well as a younger sister, Susie Reed and her husband John of Parma, MI.

While living in Oak Ridge, TN, in addition to successfully raising three kids and a husband, she was active in her church, was instrumental in starting a shelter for battered women and worked with disadvantaged children.  Her last position before retiring was with the Anderson County District Attorney where she was an advocate for Victims of Violent Crimes.  In that capacity she traveled the state to speak at parole board hearings, was an instructor at police training courses and spoke about domestic violence.

Cassie lived in Estero, FL, for the past 15 years where she was active in community activities and attended the Ft Myers Evangelical Free Church.  There she was involved in Sunday School, small groups, CBS bible study and a mission trip to Kenya.  Her role as a mentor in Mothers of Pre-Schoolers was cut short by her fight with cancer.

Aside from being a devoted wife and mother, Cassie was fun, spontaneous, sometimes bossy, and liked to make big plans.  She was always loving, forgiving and a good friend to many.  Most importantly she loved God and He loves her.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, please forward contributions in memory of Catherine C. Moretz to Hope Hospice; https://www.hopehospice.org/.

Celebration of Life services will be 4:00 pm Saturday, May 26, at the Evangelical Free Church; 6798 Plantation Pines Blvd, Ft Myers.

A celebration in Oak Ridge will be announced at a later date.
