Obituary

Catherine Ann Vogelsang, age 85, a loving Wife and Mother passed away peacefully January 31, 2020 due to complications from lung cancer.  She was born November 3, 1934, in Baltimore, Maryland to Ruby Strahler Davis, who preceded her in death in 1977. She was married to Frederick Joseph Vogelsang, whom she met while working at Maryland Glass in Baltimore, Maryland.  They would have celebrated 61 years of marriage this April 11th.

Prior to her retirement in 1992, Catherine worked various jobs ranging from crossing guard to florist.  Catherine also had many talents, including cross-stitching, stained glass, and let’s not forget, building contractor – a title which she earned when her and Frederick completed building their log cabin in West Virginia.  There wasn’t much she couldn’t do, and she never ran short of practical jokes.  She loved making people laugh.  Her life was a living example of hard work, and lots of love and laughter.

Catherine is survived by her husband Frederick Joseph Vogelsang, her daughter Karen Ann Gonzales, her service dog Sadie. Siblings Joseph Davis, Paul Davis, Cecelia Dorsch, and Marilyn Vontran, her sister-in-law Sara Vogelsang. Along with many nieces, nephews, and her grand fur babies, Benson and Sweetie.

Catherine’s services are private. Catherine’s family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers

    Mom,

I cannot express the gratitude in my heart that we were able to spend so many precious moments together and express ourselves as I always imagined a Mother and Daughter would before you left us. I want you to know that I will take good of care of Daddy and Sadie, just like I did of you, and that I will continue to make you proud of me. I won't say for certain, but I'm fairly sure that you have already been here looking in on us. I feel your presence in a way I cannot explain. You are already dearly missed by everyone I have spoken with. They all send you their love and prayers.

I am so glad that you now have perfect eyes to see and perfect ears to hear, because I will be in touch often. On those occasions when I find it too emotional to talk with you, I will write to you, so check your heavenly mailbox daily.

    Your loving daughter,
    Karen
