Obituary

Cathy Ann Tissier, 70, of Port Orange. FL (formerly of Belleville, IL & Peoria, IL) passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 11th at Halifax Hospice Care Center.

Cathy was born on April 12, 1953, in Belleville to the late Floyd and Gladys (Buchert) Haas.

Surviving is her husband of 45 years Mark Tissier; two beautiful daughters, Amy (Douglas) Wake of Peoria IL, and Jody (Ryan) Groff of Champaign, IL; nine adoring grandchildren, Joseph, Samuel, Collin, Georgia, and Carol Anne Wake, Oliver and Oriole Groff, and Cole and Madelyne Washington; one brother David (Clark-Ann) Haas of Millstadt IL; brothers and sisters-in laws; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Cathy graduated from Belleville East High School in 1971. She graduated with an associates degree from Southwest Illinois Community College in 1987.  Together, she helped Mark run their family business, Tish’s Auto Service, for more than 25 years.

To know Cathy was to love her. Her gift for engaging others in conversation was unparalleled. She enjoyed talking to people anywhere and everywhere she went. She truly didn’t know a stranger. Another love of Cathy’s was travel. Her and Mark took many cruises throughout their years together, and traveled to many states in their motorhome. She loved visiting the beach, basking in the warm sunshine, and swimming in the ocean.

Cathy enjoyed sharing her time and talents with many groups over the years. She was active in Girl Scouts, schools & churches, along with several different food and clothing pantries.

A Celebration of Cathy’s Life will be held at Belleville Christian Center, 104 S. 17th St., Belleville IL on Sunday, September 3rd from 2-4pm.

Also, a Memorial Mass will be held in her honor at St. Philomena Church, Peoria IL on Monday, September 4th at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Feed the Children Organization (www.feedthechildren.org).

Cathy and I could talk, talk and talk some more! I loved knowing I was going to see her as I knew we would have a good time together. Russell and Mark would laugh about how long our goodbye's were.
Look forward to seeing you in October, Mark. Our sympathy to all.

How I miss your laugh and companionship. It was such a happy coincidence, after being friends, neighbors and business associates in Belleville, then magically in Florida, too. I think it was all kismet. The only sad fact is that you're no longer here with us. I hate that and still haven't accepted it. You are a genius, gifted in your grasp of shenanigans and plots the powers that be use against us-with such eagle-eyed precision, you were nobody's fool. Mark, your daughters and grandchildren were so blessed by your presence in their lives. A presence born in deep, abiding love, a presence that will always continue. I know you're giggling with the angels now, giving them even more reason to smile....like you did for me and many others.
I will miss you, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, MY DEAR FRIEND. XXXOOO.
