Obituary

Celia Francis Schroeder, 80 of Apopka, FL was called home on July 28, 2020. Celia was born in Orlando, FL on May 18, 1940 to Edwin and Mary Winchell. She attended Pine Castle Elementary, Howard Junior High and Boone High School.

Celia was a devoted homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life’s work centered around the care of others. Celia nurtured many children, in addition to her own over the years through foster care and child care in her home. She was also a school and hospital volunteer. Celia worked in and supported many church activities throughout her life but her passion was for music ministry. Celia had a beautiful soprano voice. She started singing solos at Trinity Lutheran Church at a very young age and continued until shortly before her passing. She was active in parish choirs for most of her life. In her later years, Celia and Richard enjoyed spending time seasonally in Franklin, NC and Cocoa Beach, FL.

Celia is survived by her husband, Richard Schroeder, Sons, Edwin (Pete) Schroeder and Carl Schroeder (wife: Shannon) and Daughters, Eva (Schroeder) Martin (husband: Ricky) and Rachel Schroeder. Celia had and adored six grandchildren, Tiffany (Schroeder) Smith, Richard (Rick) Schroeder, Ryan Schroeder (preceded her in death), Michael Schroeder, Matthew Schroeder and Delaney Schroeder and six great-grandchildren, Melissa, Mackenzie, Rebecca, Faith, Asher and Richard Wesley. Celia, being an only child, also enjoyed and embraced her large extended family, upon marriage, including brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Orlando at a later date due to social distancing restrictions.

Memorial donations may be made in Celia’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church and School, Orlando or Good Shepard Lutheran Church, Franklin, NC.

Uncle Rich, Pete, Carl, Eva & Rachel- We’re praying that God gives you peace during this time of sadness. Aunt Celia was a second mom to me and so many others with her unending love. I’ll never forget her kindness and grace and how she shaped my life.

Praying for God's peace and comfort for the family, especially for Uncle Rich. Aunt Celia used her lovely voice to beautify more church services ( including our wedding) than anyone can count. Now she sings with the angels. She will be missed.

Uncle Rich and family, you are all in my thoughts and prayers as you deal with the loss of Aunt Celia. It's such a comfort to know she is resting in the arms of our Heavenly Father and singing with His choir of angels. Looking forward to a gathering for her memorial service so we can share lots of hugs. Love to you all!
