Obituary

Charles Anthony Gunion, 70, of Summerfield, FL formerly of Follansbee, WV, passed away on October 2, 2018. He was born on February 28, 1948 in Steubenville, Ohio. The son of the late Chester and Virginia (Guzzo) Gunion. He retired from Weirton Steel Corp., as a diesel crane operator. He also worked at Mountaineer Gaming Resort as a shift manager of Slot Operations and was self employed as the owner of Gunion’s Newstand in Follansbee, W.VA. for 22 years. Chuck served his country with the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a life member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion, Post 347, Lady Lake, Florida. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Kathy (Debarr) Gunion; two brothers, Jim and Tom Gunion. Surviving are his loving spouse, Caryn (Taylor) Gunion of Summerfield, Florida; one son, Ray (Jacqui) DeFranco of Follansbee, WV; one daughter, Tammy DeFranco of Pickerington, OH; 3 grandchildren, MeKenzie, Sydney and Buddy DeFranco. As per Chuck’s request there will be no visitation. A Graveside service will take place Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 930 am at Florida National Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the American Legion post 347 on State Road 466 in Lady Lake Florida.
