Charles L. “Preacher” Sloan, 90, of New Smyrna Beach died Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at Oceanview Nursing Home. A celebration of Preacher’s life will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Coronado Community United Methodist Church with Reverend Robert Brown officiating.
Mr. Sloan was born November 3, 1918 in Cleveland, TN. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving during WW II and the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict serving as a navigator with the rank of Captain. Mr. Sloan worked for C.C. Card Auto Company and was a broker/agent in real estate in Cleveland, TN before moving to New Smyrna Beach in 1980. He was a member of the Coronado Community United Methodist Church, Sugar Mill Country Club and was an avid golfer with five holes in one during his career as a golfer. Preacher was a member of the Ole Timers Hall of Fame in Cleveland, TN.
Preacher is survived by his wife of 35 years, Samye Jean; son, Steve (Brenda) Sloan of Orlando; grandsons, Stephen and Jonathan both of Orlando; several step-children and grandchildren, Max Phillips and children, Sloane and Taylor, Nancy Hilley and sons, Philip and Samuel, Dustin Daugherty and children, Dalton and Samye, Lauran Walker and daughter, Halley, and Chip and Mike Phillips.

We just wanted to expresses our sympathy in the recent loss of "Preacher". He and Earle had many exciting times on the golf course and I am sure they have met up in heaven for their first golf game in many years. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.
