Obituary
Charles (Charlie) Edward Sale Jr, 75, of Fort Myers, FL passed away on November 26, 2022, at home. He was born August 1, 1947, in Gideon MO to the late Charles Edward, Sr & Dorothy (Fowler) Sale.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria of 41 years; son Charles III of Fort Myers, FL and stepdaughter Kelli (Terry) Tolzman of Denver. CO; sisters Patricia (Steve) Hutton of Springfield, MO and Debra (Roy) Zeier of Defiance, MO; brother Tom of St. Charles, MO. Step-grandchildren Alexandra Tolzman and Victoria Tolzman of Denver, CO; nephews Bill Zeier, Charles Anthony Sale and preceded by Joe Sale; niece Andrea Zeier.
Charlie is a US Army Veteran, achieving the rank of Sergeant E5 and served honorably in the 82nd and 101st Airborne. Sergeant Sale was wounded in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart for injuries that would continue to affect him for the rest of his life.
After the military, he worked at Rockford Blacktop for Local #32 for 15 years. During that time, when not working, he enjoyed riding his Harley, playing competitive softball and achieving his Private Pilot license. In 1986, Charlie and Gloria moved to Florida and he became an enthusiast of Black Powder Rifle and Cowboy Action competitive shooting. He would travel to NRA Whittingham Center in NM and compete in the Annual Black Powder Match. Charlie served as President for Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club during mid 1990’s along with volunteering time as an RSO (Range Safety Officer) and would participate in the Annual Alafia River Rendezvous, the largest pre-1840 living history encampment in the Southeast. He is a Charter Member of Descendants of American Prisoners of War and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR).
Charlie will always be remembered for his love of his country, family, pets, and his daily drink choice of 36 – 48 ounces of Coca Cola.
