Obituary
Charles R. D. Selinger of Ft. Myers, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, in Cape Coral, Florida. He was 84 years old. Charles was born on July 4, 1936, in Evanston, Illinois, to the late Henry and Helen (Hutzler) Selinger.
Charles worked as a salesman in the sporting goods industry. When he was younger, he had played baseball for the American Legion, was the leading hitter in 1953 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Mary, of 32 years; children, Scott Mielke of San Diego, California, Lisa (Brian) Crouch of South Lyon, Michigan, Chuck (Kari) Selinger of Ceresco, Michigan; step-children, Susan Sammut of Bloomfield, Michigan and John (Shauna) Ethier of Lapeer, Michigan, and grandchildren, Virginia, Veronica and Joey (children of Susan), Clayton (son of Chuck), Jordan and Molly (children of Lisa), and Collin (son of John).
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Rick Mielke.
Charles loved golfing and had 9 hole in ones. He loved to play poker, loved the swimming pool, loved to be with people and more than anything, loved spending time with his family. Charles and his wife, Mary, loved to travel and among many other wonderful qualities, he will always be remembered for his great sense of humor.
