Obituary

Chief Master Sgt. Karl S. Fairbanks, Sr. (82) died unexpectedly on February 16, 2017. Karl is survived by his most beloved wife of 60 years, Marcie; son Karl Jr.(Barbara); daughter Kelly Schwartz (Craig); and grandchildren Jessica Fairbanks, Alexandra Neff (Jeramy), Christopher Schwartz and Lt. Conner Schwartz (Amy); and his twin brother Kenneth (Nancy).

Karl was retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1978 with 26 years of distinguished service. His final call of duty was to establish an NCO Leadership School at Davis Monthan AFB and at which he served as its first Commandant.

After his military service Karl went to work for Lockheed Aircraft in Saudi Arabia. He and Marcie used this opportunity to see the world. This life long love of travel would continue even after his return to the states and he was a member of the Villages RV Club.

For the past 25 years Karl has been associated with H&R Block as lead preparer and manager.

Karl was a devoted member of St. George Episcopal Church and in recent years derived great comfort from participating in the Healing Service.

A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held at St. George Episcopal Church, The Villages, on Monday February 27, 2017 at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George Episcopal Church Outreach Fund (specifically Haiti mission and area food banks), The Villages Fl.  Arrangements entrusted to Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society, Lady Lake FL. Online condolences may be left at www.baldwincremation.com

I worked with Karl for many years, he always told me about their many travels thru the years. He was so proud of the new Motor home they were getting and where their travels were going to take them.
He was so very proud of his family always telling me about Marcie and her quilting projects. His grandson also came into the topic of conversation often.

Good travels Karl and I am sure you will carry on your service as proudly as you did before. Prayers and condolences to the family
