Obituary

On Wednesday, December 14th, 2022, Christopher Gregg Trace passed away at the age of 51.

Chris was born on February 8th, 1971 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Robin Hansen and Gregg Trace.

Chris graduated from Deltona High in 1988.

Chris had a passion for nature. He was an avid fisherman as soon as he was old enough to hold a fishing rod. As a teen he would often hop in his grandpa’s boat and mosey on down the St. John’s river fishing and enjoying the water.

He worked in horticulture. Most of his time, working and spare, was spent around plants whether it be gardening at home or overseeing the color plantings in many different areas of The Villages Retirement Community.

Chris was charismatic and thoughtful. His smile lit up a room; his laugh was contagious.

Chris is survived by his spouse, Angela Trace, mother, Robin Hansen, Stepmother, Joan Trace, children Hale and Connor Trace and his half sisters Sarah Gilling, Jennifer Trace and Cheri Cobb.

A service will take place at St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Summerfield, FL 34491 on January 5th, 2023 at 10am.

I am highly saddened to discover Chris has passed. I knew him back in the Navy and we dated for a while. He always made me laugh so very much, was a true gentleman, so very kind, and cute as a button. He was a wonderful friend to me. We stayed in touch sporadically over the years and I wish so much that I knew back when he passed. He was so very young!!!!

My thoughts are with his family as I am sure they miss him terribly still. Chris had a huge personality and he is one of those people that once he’s gone, it just feels a little more dark out there in the world. He was a beautifully bright light. Pure sunshine. Pure love.

I miss you terribly, Chris. Thank you for being in my life. I hope to see you again in the next existence.

Sad to stumble upon this. Chris was one of my best friends when he lived on Sutter Loop in Longwood. We went to school together at Lake Mary High School for a short time until he moved to downtown Orlando. I will never forget the summer we worked for his step dad at the Deli Downtown. We had some fun that year! I tried staying in contact after he moved but when your 15-16yo and pre-cell phones it wasn't easy and we lost touch. See you again someday buddy! God Speed...

I will always remember Chris for his humor and his loving heart. I got to know and understand him in a way that most didn’t understand him. He was a true gentleman. He made me laugh with his impromptu jokes, silly snapchats, and crazy stories. There was never a dull moment. Working with him was a joy. He talked a lot about his family (especially his uncle), fishing, passion for horticulture and how much he loved his children. I will miss calling him and saying “hey Chris wuz up?” Talking to each other about what we had in common and knowing I could confide in him. I will continue those conversations in prayer with him. I will miss him so very much.
