Obituary
Christopher J. Hoey, of Yulee, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2021, with his devoted children by his side. He was born on April 2, 1933, in New York City and moved to Staten Island where he stayed until he moved to Palm Coast, Florida in 2005. Christopher was married for 54 years to Rita Collins Hoey.
Christopher was a graduate of New Dorp High School, and then later Fordham University and Fordham Law School. He worked for 27 years as the Head General Counsel for F.W. Woolworth Company Labor Relations P.C. He was also of counsel to Jackson Lewis in New York. After moving to Florida, he worked as a Freelance Photographer for the Palm Coast Observer and was author to many letters to the editor. He also lectured at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton until his second stroke in 2017.
Christopher was predeceased by his wife, Rita Collins Hoey. He is survived by his children, Rita (Joseph) Aldridge, Mary (John) Florkiewicz, Grace Hoey, and Christopher Hoey, and his grandchildren, Alexandria and Amanda Huges, Tara Hoey, and Amy, Mary Kate, Anna, John C. Florkiewicz, Barbara Rose Hoey and Christopher John Roberts. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Stella Hicks, Teaghan Boudreau and Kaleigh Boudreau, and his sister, Eileen Francisconi.
Christopher was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and beloved uncle. He is dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
Christopher’s Mass will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 4600 Belle Terre Pkwy, Palm Coast, FL 32164. We will have the memorial room from 10:00 a.m. till 11 and Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m.
