Obituary
Christopher Sanford, 19, of Cape Coral, Fl., passed on October 13, 2020. Chris was born in Ahmedabad, India on November 6, 2000. He arrived in Newark, New Jersey on Thanksgiving Day 2004. “Kapil” as he was called in India was anxiously greeted by his parents, Pamela and George Sanford Jr., sisters Amanda, Stefani, and Shannon, and his only brother Justin.
Christopher attended elementary schools in Cape Coral, Fl. He attended Florida Southwestern Collegiate High School in Ft. Myers for his first two years of high school and was also an explorer with Ft. Myers Police Department Explorers. Chris enjoyed anything technology and was a quick expert at anything engineering or technology.
A 2020 graduate of OASIS High School in Cape Coral, Christopher was a member of the swim team. His proudest accomplishment, however, was being the Executive Officer for the Raider Varsity JROTC team.
Christopher will be forever remembered for his contagious laugh, infectious smile, crazy, bizarre sense of humor, and his loyalty to people he considered his friends.
Family members who preceded him in death were his maternal grandparents, Gene and Ellen Leer, his paternal grandfather George Sanford Sr., and adopted grandparents Father Allen and Barbara Vermilye.
Christopher leaves with precious memories his parents, Pamela and George Sanford Jr., sister Amanda and brother-in-law Michael Neusaenger, sister Stefani, brother-in-law James Dougherty, Jr. and nephew Nathan, brother Justin and niece Leah Rose Sanford and sisters Shannon and Abigayle Sanford. He is also survived by his grandmother Maria Sanford, his godmother Julie Leer, and many friends.
A celebration of life will be held on November 7, 2020 at 2 p.m. at St. Hilary’s Church, 5011 McGregor Blvd., Ft. Myers, Fl. and will be livestreamed via the St. Hilary’s Facebook page. Memorials may be sent to 2335 SE 28th St. Cape Coral, Fl., 33094 and will be given to St. Hilary’s Youth Group (YOSH).
