Obituary

Claire Marshall Twigg, age 65, loving mother of four, passed away in the early hours of January 6, 2022 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  Claire was born on June 22, 1956 in Bethesda, MD.  She grew up the middle of 10 children and learned strength and compassion by example of her loving parents, Claire and Francis Marshall.

Claire was a passionate woman who raised her four children as a single mother.  She endured hardships with dignity and grace, always being a positive role model for those around her.  She had many friends in life who became family to her.  Everyone who met Claire grew to love her.  She had a smile that lit up every room she entered.  She will be greatly missed by all she touched, especially her children and grandchildren, whom she loved with all of her heart.

“We hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain.

To walk and guide us through our lives until we meet again.”

(Author Unknown)

Claire is survived by her four children, Alicea Wolf, Steven Rutter, Thomas Twigg, and Paul Twigg.  Her son-in-law, Jason Wolf, and three daughter-in-laws, Anna Rutter, Ashley Twigg, and Mishal Chawdry.  She is also survived by her beautiful grandchildren, Brianna, Jaxson, Isis, John, Elizabeth, Sarah, Hailey, Chloe, Natalie, and Aria.  As well as her grand-dogs, Bear and Raven, who never left her side.  Claire has many sisters, brothers, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Claire Grace Shea and Francis Joseph Marshall, as well as her sister, Mary Ellen, brothers Frank and Brian, and brothers-in-law, Gordon, Beau, and Johnny.

    To my beautiful Aunt Claire,

You will be missed but never forgotten. Thank you for being by my moms side even when it was difficult. Thank you for always welcoming me with open arms and protecting me from your oversized cats. Thank you for my love of animal print and all things purple. You will forever hold a place in my heart. Hug my dad tight for me and tell him I love him. I will stand by my cousins and help them anyway I can to navigate through this. Rest Easy Aunt Claire. Anytime I miss you I will watch Golden Girls and laugh out loud. Enjoy a cheeseburger with Uncle Brian and kiss Grandma for me. Tell Aunt Mary Ellen and Uncle Gordon thank you for a life of love and family. Tell Granddaddy I did steal his pie
    Love Always!!

My Beautiful Sister gone too soon! The best friend, sister and life mentor anyone could ask for! So many memories of working together and taking care of each other through thick and thin! We had much fun too, you taught me to
Laugh, Dance and to Trust when I didn’t know how. The one person who would pick up the phone no matter how busy or text back with words of encouragement. I’ll miss you so very much! I love you and will do all I can to help comfort your kids and Grandkids. ❤️
