Obituary

On October 19, 2025, Clarence Walter Weir Jr., 84, of The Villages, FL, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away peacefully at his home.

Clancy was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA on July 20, 1941, to Clarence Sr. and Betty Mae Weir. He graduated from Langley high school in Pittsburgh, PA in 1959 and enlisted in the United States Navy in February,1966. Clancy enrolled in Corps School after boot camp in San Diego, CA and graduated in January, 1967, enrolling in EKG school shortly after. During his enlistment, Clancy traveled briefly back to PA to marry Jacqueline (Jackie) Dorothy James in October of 1966. After graduating from EKG school in 1968, Clancy was stationed in Orlando FL and attended cardio-pulmonary technicians school. He graduated from CP tech school in early 1969. In June 1970, Clarence and family relocated to Maryland and he was stationed at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Clarence was discharged from active Naval duty in September, 1978, and then enlisted in the Naval reserves. As a reservist, he traveled to Europe multiple times to train servicemen at military bases in Biological Medical Emergency Reaction. After 21 years of both active and reserve service to the U.S. Navy, he retired from the Naval Reserves on October 1, 1988. After active duty, Clarence worked for Georgetown University, establishing and growing the pulmonary testing lab. After 12 years, he did the same work at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. Clarence retired from UM Baltimore in March, 2007 and relocated with Jackie to Harrington, Delaware. After several years living in Delaware, Jackie and Clancy decided they wanted less snow and more sunshine, and relocated to their final home in The Villages in June of 2013.

Clancy enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and playing and umpiring softball. He umpired in The Villages 5 days a week until his passing. As long as his sons, Scott & Jeff, were playing sports as children, he was coaching them in football, basketball, baseball, and softball.

Clarence was predeceased by his wife Jacqueline and survived by his son Scott James Weir (Heidi S. Weir) of The Villages, FL, his son Jeffrey Alan Weir (Sarah G. Weir) of Middletown MD, and his 3 granddaughters, Amanda Weir McCartney (Nathan), Alice Weir Reed (Chad), Jessica Michelle Weir, great granddaughter Ryder Jacqueline Weir and great grandson Tatem McCartney. Clarence will be interred at Bushnell National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL alongside his wife, Jacqueline.
