Obituary

Casey/Kees (pronounced Case) passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, at the age of 75 in Orlando, Florida with his wife and daughters holding his hands.
He was a devoted husband to Susan (Martin) for 25 years and a loving father to his daughters: Melissa (Brian) Wagner and Kimberly (Aden) Tracy.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Zachary, Katherine, Elizabeth Wagner and Parker Tracy all of whom he adored.  He is also survived by his siblings, Harry, Ann, Willy, Elly, Billy and Betty.  He was preceded in death by this mother, Petronella (van den Berg) and father, Corstiaan van der Vossen; brother John and sister Johanna.
Born on May 9th, 1950, in Haarlem, Netherlands he was number seven of nine children.  He was the last child born in Holland.  The family immigrated to DC when he was just a year old.  He attended St. Anthony’s in Northeast DC and graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School in 1968.  He lived in the DC/Maryland area until the early 1990’s when he moved to Orlando, FL with his family.
Casey worked various jobs until he took over the lawn and landscaping business from his father.  He had an amazing gift for design and took great pride in his work.  Some of his clients in DC were the homes of generals and various embassies.  He worked and owned  his own business for 44 years.  He loved the outdoors.
A man of simple pleasures, he was passionate about feeding birds, playing cards, spending time with family and friends and making his grandkids laugh.  He could often be found helping a neighbor in need.  He loved dark chocolate, coffee, snacks and Stroopwafel cookies from Holland.  He was a man of kindness and humor.  He instilled a strong work ethic and the importance of family in his two beautiful daughters. Though we mourn his loss, his laughter, love, kindness and insight will live forever in the hearts of all who knew him and loved him.
We will celebrate the incredible life he lived and the legacy of love and lessons he left behind.
The family will receive friends at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church, Winter Park FL on November 3rd at 1:30 with a funeral mass to start at 2:00.  All will be live streamed.
The funeral mass will be followed by a reception to share memories and munchies.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
