Obituary

Craig Alan Kenyon, 71, of Port Orange, Florida, passed away peacefully in his home on November 11, 2022.

Craig was born on May 17, 1951, to John D. and Anne V. (Brouillette) Kenyon in New London, Connecticut. Upon graduation from Ledyard High School in 1969, Craig  enlisted in the United States Coast Guard Reserve the same year, serving until his Honorable Discharge in 1975. While in the Reserve, Craig attended Manchester Community College and attained his Associates Degree in Science for Hotel Food Service Management in 1972. He worked for a number of hotels and restaurants in the New London area.

After his parents settled in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Craig relocated to Daytona Beach in the mid 1970s, where he opened and operated a small oyster bar. He later went on to manage a local restaurant, Sweetwater’s, until 1989 when he joined the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office as a 911 Telecommunications Dispatcher, initiating a 23-year career of exemplary service to his community. He was honored as Telecommunicator of the 2009 2nd Quarter.

In 1983, Craig met Rosalie Imbert and they married in 1985. Craig and Rosalie have two daughters, Ashley L. Kenyon and Lauren M. Kenyon.

In 2013, Craig retired from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and spent his time with his family and many beloved friends. Throughout his life, Craig was an avid reader and history enthusiast, instilling these interests in both of his daughters. He also enjoyed many hobbies such as amateur photography, boating, gaming, and shooting. In keeping with his father’s legacy, Craig was a long-time member of the New Smyrna Masonic Lodge 149. He attained the honor of Master Mason in 1976 and remained a member for over 40 years. Additionally, Craig was an active member at the AMVETS Post 911 in Port Orange, the American Legion Post 361 in South Daytona, as well as the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4809.

Craig was predeceased by his parents, John and Anne Kenyon. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie; daughters, Ashley and Lauren; aunts Jean Faherty and Doris Carey;  siblings, Raymond Kenyon (Rebecca) and Gayle Phoenix (David); nephews, Jason Kenyon (Christine) and Sean Kenyon; nieces, Tianne Curtis (Isaiah) and Perrilea Capalbo (Thomas); four great-nephews, a great-niece, and numerous cousins.

Services will be held at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society of New Smyrna Beach on Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to AMVETS Post 911, 5624 Ridgewood Ave. Port Orange, FL 32127, an organization Craig felt strongly about.
