Obituary

Cristina, 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children on February 27, 2020.

 

Born in Lima, Peru to Luis Guillermo Tamayo and Maria Julia Montoya, Cristina received her Masters Degree in nursing from the Daniel A. Carrion School of Nursing. Prior to retirement in 1978, she was a nursing supervisor in Callao Peru.

 

Cristina is survived by her daughter Gladys C. Zimmerman (Robert), sons Jorge H. Meza (Maria) and Luis M. Meza (Mary). Additionally, Cristina is survived by grandchildren Robert Jr., George, and Grace Zimmerman, Carlos, Miguel, Natali, Alexandra, Melissa, and Cristina Meza.

 

In addition to being instrumental in the Hispanic Community, Cristina was very active in her church, All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas, Virginia, and president of their Legion of Mary for many years, ministering to the sick or elderly wherever they may be. Her grandchildren will forever remember Cristina’s strong faith, soft voice, and her devotion to family.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 9, 10:00AM, 2020 at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Apopka, FL. Visitation will follow at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, Apopka, FL. 11:30-1:30.
