Obituary

Curtis ‘Curt’ O. Midthun

Age 65 of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Wayzata, MN, passed peacefully to his heavenly Father with his family at his side. His 8 year struggle with Melanoma is over. Curt was born January 26th, 1953 at Miners Hospital in Crosby MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, Myron L. and Stella Rose (Novak) Midthun. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Kathleen (Mirau) Midthun; his daughter, Elizabeth (George) Ramirez of Minnetonka, MN; his sons, Patrick (Lana) Midthun of Orlando, FL; and Theodore “Ted” Midthun of Edina, MN. He was “Papa Curt” to granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth and grandson Nicholas James, both of Minnetonka.

Survived by 3 brothers, Myron, (Shirley) Midthun Deerwood, MN, Allen (Jackie) Midthun, Aitkin, MN and Calvin (Shelley) Midthun of Waconia, MN. Curt began his 33 year career at the Toro Company, Bloomington, MN where he was Director of Human Resources International Business. He was a strong advocate for his coworkers, and with his quiet, joyful demeanor he was loved by many. Curt was a mentor, counselor and confidant, helping others to achieve their goals, and living strong his Christian faith. He proudly served as past president of the Eden Prairie Lion’s Club 1989-1990.

After retiring, he moved to Cape Coral, FL to live near his group of friends from Minnesota and enjoyed boating, fishing, reading, playing cribbage and breakfast with friends. Special thanks to Hope Hospice Cape Coral, Moffitt Cancer Center Tampa, Lee Memorial Rehab Hospital, Ft Myers, and close friends and family for their unwavering care and support.

I, too, have often thought of Curt. It sounds like he was unchanged from when I worked with him many years ago in the HR department at Toro. What a great guy and it was obvious he loved you all very much. My deepest sympathies.

As Curt’s birthday celebration approaches,... let us again reflect on the great man we have lost to our mortal lives - but never in our hearts.
We continue to celebrate his life and impact on us,...and salute his loving family as they continue to live lives in honor of him.
With love and respect from his Aussie ‘brother and sister ‘

Phyllis and I have never known a more positive, optimistic and uplifting person than Curt. He always greeted everyone with that endearing smile and many kind words. There was no better person to have on a Toro whitewater raft trip, especially the rainy ones, than Curt. He lifted our spirits and brought sunshine into every day. The world would be such a better place if we all lived our lives like Curt lived his. What a gift to have known him and called him a friend. His legacy will be so long be remembered. We’re sending that big smile right back at you, Curt, with all our love, respect and true admiration. Lynn & Phyllis Matson
