Cynthia “CK”  Allen

October 17, 1955 – June 20, 2018

Cynthia “CK” Allen passed away Wednesday morning, June 20, 2018, in New Smyrna Beach, FL.

The daughter of Charles Edwin Carter and Ruby Inez Bryant, Cynthia Inez Carter was born on October 17, 1955, in High Point, NC, where she was also raised. CK graduated from Andrews High School. She went on to live in Charlotte, NC, Charlot Amelie, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands and Hilton Head, SC. In 1989, she moved to Falls Church, VA where she married Jim Allen on May 1, 1990. In March 1995 they moved to San Diego, CA where she worked as an executive assistant to the CFO at Luce Forward. They bought their first home in the spring of 2018 in New Smyrna Beach, FL.

A friend wrote: “Our beloved CK unexpectedly passed away in her new home. She is remembered by friends and family as a loving person whose smile and personality lit up the room. Her Love of the beach and reading will live on.”

Another friend wrote: “CK was an effortlessly gorgeous woman with a big heart. She loved first and foremost her husband, her network of family and friends, followed closely by (in no particulate order) Lake Michigan, cool canines, classic movies, classy outfits, interior decorating, cooking, crossword puzzles and grey thoroughbreds. She will be remembered for her quick laugh and warm hugs.”

CK is survived by Jim, her husband of 28 years; and her two sisters, Peggy and Charleen.

An informal gathering to celebrate her life is scheduled for Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 2 pm at City Beach in Grand Haven, MI.

Our boys really loved you and so did we. I’ll always remember them bringing pennies to you and Jim, and Jim singing to them with the duck. :) You were a great neighbor and we will miss you dearly and forever.

    Love always,

    Erin and Joe Ransom

CK was my best friend in Junior High. We shared the love of music, the beach & just hanging out together. We lost touch for awhile but reconnected & it was just like we never were apart. She was a free spirit, loving daughter, sister, friend & wife. I’m glad she & Jim found each other. He’s a good man. Ironically I married a Carter so now I have her name! We laughed a lot about that. I’ll see you in the next life CK. I cherish you always

CK, I will miss your laughter and kindheartedness. You are a fabulous friend and I will cherish forever my memories of our friendship. I certainly would not have survived high school or my 20s without you. Peace and love forever. Love, Nan
