Obituary

Dale Schenck 82, of Ocala, FL, passed away December 26, 2022.

Dale was born on February 5, 1940 to the late Edward and Violet Schenck in Muncy, PA. Dale attended Muncy High School and graduated May 1958. He was a member of the Muncy High School marching and concert band, was on the wrestling, football and baseball teams, participated in the chorus and glee club, and acted in his senior class play. After high school he attended Lycoming College, Williamsport and worked at Sprout Waldron Co, Muncy until March 1962 when he chose to enlist in the US Air Force. He was stationed at SAC Headquarters in Omaha, Nebraska working in the data processing and computer field. After leaving the Air Force in March 1966, he went to work for NASA in Houston, Texas, then transferred to NASA in Greenbelt, MD. He worked for GSA (General Services Administration) in Washington, DC as a computer specialist till his retirement in August 2002.

In 1971 Dale met Janet Frese from Greenbelt, MD. They both had a love for horses and boarded at a stable in Bowie, MD where they met. They married on August 4, 1973 and resided in Calvert County, MD till 2014, then moved to Ocala, FL.

One of his passions was bowling, he was on several leagues, playing in tournaments in Maryland and Pennsylvania. When moving to Ocala he took up playing Bocce and was a member of the Bocce league. He was a sports fan and enjoyed watching football, car racing, baseball, and pro golf tournaments. He also liked traveling, going to the movies, and playing cards with family and friends.

Dale is survived by his beloved wife Janet of 49 years. Son Brian and wife Katie Schenck and daughter Denise; daughter Becky and husband Matt Carson and their girls Mackenzie, Riley and Sadie. Sister Cathy and husband Mike Myers and sister Marcia and husband Art Rich. Sister-in-law Pat Frese and brother-in-law Bob Frese. And many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death his brother Fred Schenck, sisters Margaret Schenck, Dora Adams and Edna Mae Pottieger.

A private ceremony will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Heart Association
