Dale Wilkinson Sorrells passed from this life to the next on October 27, 2011 in New Smyrna Beach, FL where she was lovingly cared for by her cousin Nancy Thompson Grooms and husband, Robert Grooms and her father and step-mother, Guyton and Chris Wilkinson. She was predeceased by her mother, Helen Schuster Johnson of Savannah, GA.
She was born in Savannah, GA on April 10, 1967 and was graduated from Windsor Forrest High School and from Armstrong State College with a B.S. in Psychology and Minor in Archeology. In Savannah, she was a case manager for the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services.
She moved to the Destin, FL area in 2004 where she was employed by the Inlet Reef Club Condominiums, most recently as Rental Agent. She served as Second Vice of the AmVets Women’s Auxiliary, Post 29 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Destin. In Destin, she received loving care from Debbie Sue May and generous support from many other friends prior to moving to New Smyrna Beach in October 2011.
She enjoyed her many friends, the beach, football and her devoted Silky Terrier, Reagan. But most of all she loved her daughters, Danielle and Deanna.
She is survived by her daughters, Danielle and Deanna Sorrells, Savannah, GA; brothers Nelson Wilkinson (Robin), Atlanta, and Russell Wilkinson (Marsha), Savannah; aunts and uncles Tom and Ellene Anderson, Savannah; Ernest and Vicki Schuster, Savannah and John and Betty Thompson of New Smyrna Beach, FL; and many cousins, nieces and a nephew.
Dale’s friends in the Destin area plan to remember her at Am-Vet Post 29 in Destin at 3:00 PM on Saturday, Nov. 5th. In Savannah, a memorial service for family and friends is planned at the Wesley Gardens Chapel on Sunday November 6 at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be directed to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia and Flagler Counties, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, Florida 32129 FL or Covenant Hospice, 101 Hart Street, Niceville, FL 32578.
