Obituary

Dan Gum was born in Perry County, Kentucky, the fifth child of Thrasher Curtis Gum and Lucy Green. After moving to Dayton, Ohio, he married his loving wife, Sharon A., on December 26, 1976.

Dan is survived by his wife, Sharon Gum, and his 3 children, who he loved very much, his son, Jonathan C. Gum, daughter-in-law, Kelly Janan-Gum and grandson, Jordan, all of Port Orange, Florida, his youngest daughter, Alicia M. Gum of Port Orange, Florida, and his daughter, Kimberly L. (Gum) Womack, son-in-law, Russ, and grandson, Tyler, all of Dayton, Ohio. Dan is also survived by additional relatives living in Ohio, Kentucky, and Georgia.

Dan worked as an apprentice printer for ten years in Dayton, Ohio before moving his family to Stockton, California as a Star Rural Route Independent Mailhandler Contractor for the U.S. Postal Service in California and Florida for over 38 years. He truly loved doing this postal work and servicing the community. After retiring, he enjoyed his home and yard, watching boxing, woodworking, and vintage cars.

Dan passed peacefully after a short illness. He will be remembered lovingly as a great family man and for his humor, and most of all, for his kindness to family and friends.

A Graveside Service is being planned by his family for this April 2021 at Woodland Cemetery and Arboretum, 118 Woodland Avenue, Dayton, Ohio in Montgomery County at his graveside in the family plot.

Dearest Dan and friends and family, Your memorial at site in Dayton,Ohio will not happen till September 2012 due to covid. Your niece Button has been sick with surgery also. Your memory is still fresh in our minds and hearts though. It will still be at Woodlawn Cemetery as we've always planned where your ashes will be under our gravesite where Thrasher is. My dear husband, thank you for 43 years of love, communicating and growing old together. I miss you.
