Obituary
Daniel “Danny” Matthew Heitz, 67, of North Port, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on November 21, 2025. A devoted brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Danny will be remembered for his humble spirit, deep love of God and family, and his unwavering strength and humor that warmed everyone around him.
Born on September 22, 1958, in Somerville, New Jersey, Danny was the beloved son of the late Paul Leroy and Betty Jo Heitz. Growing up in a close-knit family, he shared many wonderful memories with his 7 siblings—Joann Salek Holsbeeke, Patrick Heitz, Mary Ellen Heitz, Dennis Heitz, his late sister Bonnie Heitz Maxwell and deceased brothers Paul “Corky” and Raymond Heitz.
Over the course of his life, Danny lived in New Jersey and Florida; he loved nature whether it was the fields, lakes and streams of New Jersey or the sunrises and sunsets on the oceans in Florida. He spent much of his life working in construction and enjoyed honing his skills as a carpenter.
During his final months, he poured his heart into creating beautiful hand-crafted wooden boxes with his brother Dennis—each piece a testament to the care and artistry that defined him. Outside his workshop, he enjoyed friendly rounds of backgammon and cards with his sister Mary, cherished early morning walks with Joann and her dog Cocoa, and visiting his brother Patrick in New Jersey to re-visit childhood memories and places.
Danny found peace and inspiration in reading the Bible. Danny’s faith guided him not only as a member of San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port but also through his involvement with the St. Luke’s Knights of Columbus in West Palm Beach.
One of Danny’s proudest accomplishments was achieving nearly ten years of sobriety as an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Through his example, he became a quiet source of encouragement for others, demonstrating grace, determination, and the belief that renewal is always possible.
Danny’s joy for life extended to his work with Kevin Talamini Construction and the many moments he shared with loved ones—like doing scripture readings at Anthony and Joelle’s wedding, watching with pride as Jayna grew from a bright young girl into a compassionate and loving mother and daughter, and being a big brother to Bonnie and Raymond. His kindness, humor, and steadfast faith left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Danny will be deeply missed by his surviving brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is reunited in eternal peace with his parents, siblings, niece Serena Heitz and brother-in-law, Wim Holsbeeke. May he rest in God’s peace, surrounded by the love he gave in life.

I love you and will miss you forever.
