Obituary
Daniel Dwayne Scott, 54, of Lehigh Acres, passed away December 28, 2018, at Lee Memorial Health Systems. Born September 23, 1964, in Fort Myers, FL. Daniel was the youngest son of Charles E Scott and Juanita E Eyster. Mr. Scott was employed as a pipe fitter in the fire suppression industry. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Scott (nee Haas) as well as his daughter Vanessa Hernandez and family as well as many friends who love him as family as he loved them. Daniel in the words on one of his physicians was a “Miracle Man.” There are many days we laughed at how he survived many events over the years from ruptured appendix that turned gangrenous at 4 to his fall down an elevator shaft which made him the education teaching video for Tampa General when people have to have a bone completely rebuilt to his long battle of cancer. Through it he may have lost his given voice but oh how he found his true one. He became an advocate for Head and Neck Cancer here in Lee County, especially for those who had laryngectomies. To raise awareness and funding for those who have to rediscover themselves and teach those who were to be responsible to provide care in medical settings to understand what it meant to be a “Total Neck Breather.” He left this mantle of being the voice for the voiceless to his wife and daughter so no one has to endure the things he has. May his tenacity burn in those who loved him to continue the fight he started wherever you may be. My dad may have had one hell of a bumpy road but he found his way to be the man and inspiration to others that we knew he could be. The world and our hearts are emptier without him in it, though now he is at peace watching over those he loved. Additional announcement information is forthcoming,. Baldwin Brothers Affordable Cremations, Fort Myers, is assisting with arrangements.
