Obituary
When we think of great men in history, we often think of those who wrote the Declaration of Independence or fought for our freedom. But many other less famous people deserve to be remembered too, like this honest, hard-working family man. Danny Wayne Lunsford was born in Buckeye, Arizona, on October 31,1945, and passed on November 29, 2021, at his home in Lehigh Acres, Florida.
Danny Wayne Lunsford was a simple, quiet man who loved art, music, history, family, and football –a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He often sat in his favorite chair with a child or grandchild on his lap with a notebook by his side and pen ready. He checked off each game as it ended so that he could write down the final scores for each weekly football match between family members; after all this is what made him happiest – talking about Steelers football and connecting with family.
He always put all his family first and would go to any length to provide and care for them. Danny worked at Bunker Hill until 1982, then worked at LP from 1984 until 1997, and went to HVAC school from 1997-1999. He then moved to Florida to take an HVAC tech job at Future Control until his retirement in 2010.
Survived by his wife Janice Lee Scott Lunsford at their home in Lehigh Acres, Florida. Six children Danny Lunsford Jr. (Eileen) of Osburn, Idaho, Sandra Austin (John) of Wallace, Idaho, Rachel LaChapelle (Roger) of Aberdeen, Washington; Gary Lunsford of Smelterville, Idaho, Chadwick Lunsford (Valbona) of Delray Beach, Florida, Robin Smith (Duane) of Grass Lake, Michigan. And a brother Leonard Lunsford (Victoria) of Pinehurst, Idaho. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.
Preceded in death by a daughter Deena Quinn, his parents Grady Lunsford and Lois Rodgers. Two brothers Grady Dean Lunsford and Charles Lunsford. Two nephews Terry Lunsford and Johnny Lunsford. Two nieces Mildred Thomas and Eunice Grant.
A celebration of life will be held at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation in Fort Myers Florida on December 29, 2021.
