Obituary
Darlene Ann Natherson, 79, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2022. Born in Crestline, Ohio on February 24, 1943, to Edwin and Josephine Guinup, Darlene moved to Sarasota in 1948. She attended Phillippi Shores Elementary and Brookside Junior High and was in the first graduating class of Riverview High School and went on to Florida Southern College, where she was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. She met and married Russell S. Natherson and in 1964 they moved to Dayton, Ohio where they started their family. In 1974 the family moved to Sarasota. Darlene was active in the Sarasota school system teaching art and chaperoning field trips as well as the Junior League of Sarasota. Darlene was also a licensed private pilot and a real estate agent and broker.
Darlene was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She enjoyed painting, sewing, playing tennis, bridge, entertaining, growing orchids, flying, and traveling with her family.
Darlene is survived by Russell, her husband of 57 years, her sons Rusty (Megan) and Randy (Wendy) and 4 grandchildren, RJ, Robyn, Amanda and Elizabeth all of Sarasota. She is also survived by her brother Gary Guinup (Linda) and a nephew Graeme who live in Ohio.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 25th at 2:00 pm at Pine Shores Presbyterian Church in Sarasota, Florida with a reception to follow in the adjacent Community Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Pine Shores Presbyterian Church.
