Dave (Robert David) Freeman
(Uncle) Dave Freeman, 69, of The Villages, FL, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at his home in Calumet Grove surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Dave was born in Rutherfordton, NC in 1947 and served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He retired after a 33-year career with AT&T. Upon his retirement, Dave had a second career as a Supervisor with District Property Management in The Villages for over 10 years. Dave moved to The Villages from the Washington, DC area in 2002 and enjoyed golf and traveling. Dave’s true “passion” was everything Hawaiian and helping his wife with her hula group, Hau’oli Hula Halau and was the “Hula Honey” driving the ladies to various performances and being the group’s MC. He also was a crafter of Hawaiian implements for hula dancing.
Dave is survived by his wife, Mac, who he loved for a million years. He is predeceased by his son Alan. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Freeman (Patty), niece Karen Rawls (David), nephew Kevin Freeman, great nephew Airman Tyler Munley and great niece Kyleigh Rawls, Son Billy Easton (Patty) The Villages, 3 grandchildren (Jessie, Jimmy and Missy), 5 great-grandchildren (Trevor, Austin, Kaydence, Mason and Sawyer) and hanai granddaughter, Hannah Lauer. Also, left to mourn Dave are dogs Hogan and Koko and cats Fred and Ethel.
Uncle Dave was truly one of “the good guys”.
A Celebration of Life for Dave will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 (his 70th birthday) at SeaBreeze Recreation Center from 6:30-10pm. Bring a covered dish to serve 8 and BYOB. Have those testimonials ready to read at the party.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Marion County, P. O. Box 4860, Ocala, FL 34478. Hospice of Marion is a “band of angels” that descended on Dave’s family to help during his passing.
