Obituary
A wonderful family man and friend, David L. Boven, passed away at the family condo in Fort Myers, Florida after a battle with lung cancer on Monday, February 19, 2018. He was born in Fremont, Michigan, on April 12, 1941 to Arthur and Marian (Visser) Boven who preceded him and death. His surviving family includes his wife of 52 years, Heide (Meister) Boven of Muskegon and Fort Myers; his son, Morrey Boven and his grandson, Connor Boven of Muskegon; his aunt, Elizabeth Boven of Holland, Michigan; his brother-in-law, Frank Schilling, Jr.; his niece, Theresa Floyd; his nephew, Frank Schilling; many cousins and a host of friends. David graduated from Fremont High School in 1959. He attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan, graduated from the University of Michigan in Marketing and Journalism and earned his Master’s degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. He was a Reporter for the Chicago Tribune, was in the National Guard, was in public relations at Manufacturer’s Bank in Detroit, and taught at North Muskegon High School. He owned and managed the Milex Garage, but found he enjoyed the world of finance and became a Stock Broker at Paine Weber and then a Vice President for Robert W. Baird until he retired. While at Baird, he mentored Sheli Vanderlinde who later became his partner and who continues as a Broker for Morgan Stanley. Dave lived a very interesting life. He and Heide loved to travel and visited many areas of the world often with friends and family. He enjoyed reading, keeping up with the latest technological advances, and driving every kind of car imaginable. He treasured time spent with his family and friends. There will be a memorial service for David in Muskegon, Michigan in early summer. Details will be available later.
