Obituary

David Eugene Bowles, age 78, of Daytona Beach Shores, FL, was unexpectedly taken home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 27, 2022. David was born March 15, 1944, in Glasgow, KY, to Lucian Jewel Bowles and Edna Dugard Bowles. He was the third oldest of 10 children. After high school, he moved to Louisville, KY and began his career at L&N Railroad. He eventually transferred to CSX Railroad in Jacksonville, FL. After 40 years of service, David retired from the railroad and moved to Daytona Beach Shores, FL, which was his lifelong dream to live by the ocean.

David was a jack of all trades, who could do just about anything from carpentry, to car repair, wood working and redoing old furniture. Over the years he enjoyed many activities including playing golf, tennis, racquetball, and fishing. One of his favorite things was walking the beach to find sharks teeth.

A resident of Oceans 3 in Daytona Beach Shores, David was always active on their board, heading committees and always lending a helping hand to everyone. He attended Church of the Epiphany Catholic Church, helped feed the homeless every Tuesday and spent much of his time with friends and family. Anyone who knew him knows he always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell.

David is survived by his 4 children, Kimberlie Nilson (Jonathan) of Irmo, SC, Melissa Christino (James) of Orlando, FL, Neal Bowles of Pensacola, FL, Delane Bowles of Cave City, KY, and by his five grandchildren.

He is also survived by 6 of his siblings including Lena Connell (Dan) of Daytona Beach Shores, FL, Barbara Dilley (Johnny) of Glasgow, KY, Debbie Maziarz of Georgetown, KY, Donald Bowles (Tish) of Glasgow, KY, Jerry Bowles (Jan) of Glasgow, KY and John Bowles (Donna) of Glasgow,KY.

A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022 at 11:00am at Church of the Epiphany Catholic Church, 201 Lafayette St, Port Orange, FL.

David was one of our dearest friends and there are no words to say how much we will miss him!!!He was always the first one to lend a helping hand to anyone whether he knew you or not. He always had a way to make you smile and let you know He always had your back! We will always cherish the great times we got to spend together and we will never forget his humor, love and friendship! David leaves a huge void in our hearts but know he is with our Lord and we will meet again. Our condolences go out to his wonderful family and may God give you peace and strength during this very difficult time ❤️
