Obituary
David John Macfarlane IV passed away on October 3rd, 2024 at the age of 45. He was a young man with a passion for truth, faith, and humor. He enjoyed deep conversations and sharing his views and beliefs. Whether it was while devouring his dad’s award winning chili around the campfire or a lively conversation at family lunch, David John was always challenging the status quo.
David John was born on May 14th, 1979 to David John Macfarlane III and Patricia Massey Macfarlane in St Petersburg FL. His parents dedicated him, their first born child, to God just as Hannah dedicated Samuel. It was advantageous they put him in God’s hands from the beginning, as growing up David John kept them on their toes. At a young age, he tied his bunny blanket around his neck and started climbing a ladder to their roof to jump off and fly. Luckily, his mother snatched him up off the ladder before he was successful in that endeavor. Time after time he creatively experimented to learn about the world around him as his former teachers can attest.
While in school, he enjoyed being in clubs such as Theater, The Academic Team and Chess Club. In 1997, he graduated from Countryside High School, Clearwater FL. From there, he was proud to be a US Marine serving our country from 1998 to 2001 until he was honorably discharged because of a damaged ankle. He took several college classes and enjoyed keeping his Calculus Teacher in her toes. Highly skilled in technology, he worked for Jabil, and Sage and was most recently a valued and integral part of Delphia Consulting.
David John is survived by: Grandmother – Dr Jean Macfarlane, Father and Mother – David and Patricia Macfarlane, Brother – Daniel Macfarlane, Sister & Brother-in-law – Ruth and Jimmy Hester, as well as many other beloved family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
