Obituary

David Michael Woitko, born in Hazelton, PA, July 1, 1943. He was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Howanitz) Woitko, Beaver Meadows, PA. Survived by his wife Lynette (Tirpak) Woitko, formerly of Summitt Hill, PA. He was a loving father of son , Jason Scott Wierzbowski, his fiancee, Erica, and grandson, Jayden Michael of Freeland, PA. A daughter Nadine Lynette (Wierzbowski) Field, her husband, Geoffery Field, grandson Jonathan David and granddaughter, Kaylee Lynn of Chuluoata, FL, also survived by his brother, John Woitko, sister-in-law, Joan (Bartenope) Woitko of Hazelton, PA. Mother-in-law,Mary Ann (Kohler) Tirpak, Orlando, Florida, Several aunts, nieces, nephews, and great nieces, great nephews, and many cousins. David graduated from Hazelton High School in 1960 and Penn State University in 1963, where he received an Associates Degree in engineering. He operated Woitko's service center in Beaver Meadows, PA and vice president of Golden Globe Travel in Tamaqua, PA. He moved to Orlando in February 1997. He was employed by Orange County Convention Center until 2012 as a maintencance superviser. He enjoyed going to work and made many friends and aquintances over the years. He also served in the National Guard. He died September 13,2014 at home after a long struggle cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all! He was strong , loving, and an inspriation to everyone that knew him.

    Dave and I were classmates at Penn State, Highacres, so many years ago.
    I was saddened to read of his passing in the Hazleton Standard~Speaker, and I wish to extend my sympathy to the family.
