Obituary

David “Dave” Evan Spratt, 75, of Rutledge, TN passed away on August 8, 2020 in Weirsdale, FL. He was born on June 18, 1945 in Hume, MO to William and Iris Spratt. Dave graduated from Pleasanton High School in Pleasanton, KS. He served his country in the US Army Reserve as a veteran combat Engineer and Demolition in 1965. He was a devoted husband to his wife Nina (Phillips) Spratt. He retired from Heat Treating in Detroit, MI.

Dave had several hobbies including fishing, hunting, and working in his garden. Most of all he loved cutting down trees to have firewood for their wood burning stove. His passion was playing the game, corn hole, and winning. He loved being around people, he never knew a stranger. He would come up with a story to make conversation with others. Dave liked giving his opinion or advice when someone had a concern.

He belonged to Bean Station Church of God where he was part of the Men’s ministry, sang in the church choir, and the praise team. At Christmas time Dave enjoyed being Santa Claus for the children’s ministry. He mowed lawns for the community grooming them as if they were his own. Dave also mentored several young men in the Lord and in Life

He is preceded in death by his father William Opal Spratt; mother Iris Irene (Lee) Spratt; brother William Otis Spratt; sister Opal Elaine (Spratt) Hood.

Dave is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nina (Phillips) Spratt; children Ginger Iris Stone (Tim Mullins), Timothy David Spratt (Stacy); grandchildren Erik D. Stone, Andrea Thompson (Jeremy), Samuel E. Spratt, William C. Spratt, and Aaron T. Spratt; great-grandchildren Charli Thompson and Josie M. Thompson; sister Rose Kniffin; brother Rollin Spratt (Dorothy); brother-in-law Marlin Phillips (Betty); several nieces, nephews, and cousins that hold a special place in his heart and a whole host of friends including all the young people who called him Dad and Papa.

David and I were in elementary and high school in the same grade. He was a kind, caring person. I am sad that he has passed and for his family who grieve. It's interesting how one person can touch your heart and demonstrate changes you can make in your life. David did that for me.` I'm sure his family and friends experienced the same. Please know David and the family are in my prayers.
