DAVIS WAYNE MCDONALD

December 16, 1939- October 30, 2022

Davis Wayne McDonald , 82,  of Ocala, Florida passed away on October 30, 2022 after battling Lewy Body Dementia. He was born in Jacksonville Florida to Davis E. and Marylee McDonald on December 16, 1939. He grew up in Jacksonville and graduated in 1957 from Robert E. Lee high school and later the University of Florida.

He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life Sandra Elizabeth Sellers on September 9, 1960, and they were married for 62 years. He is survived by his loving wife Sandy, sister Patsy McDonald Nettles (husband Stan), sister-in-law Lynda Taylor (husband Ron), daughter Lori McDonald Willis (husband Jack), daughter Lyn McDonald Fencl (husband John), son Kevin McDonald (wife Leah), 7 grandchildren Blayne Willis, Jordan Willis (wife Sabra), Logan McDonald, Joshua McDonald, Ben Fencl, Brooke McDonald, and Sarah Fencl, 4 Great Grand Children: Brantley Willis, Brielle Willis, Sawyer Willis, and Evelyn Willis.

He served 11 years in the Army National Guard and completed his service as a 2nd lieutenant.

He moved with his family to Ocala in 1971 with Blue Cross Blue Shield and later moved to the Ocala Insurance Agency and ultimately owned and operated his own independent Allstate Insurance office in Ocala. He spent countless hours of volunteer work with local charities and organizations in the Ocala community.

He attended Highlands Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Ocala. The hallmark of Wayne’s life was his strong faith and being a follower of Jesus Christ. He shared the gospel at every opportunity and his life continued to flourish in faith and fellowship with friends. He never met a stranger and was genuinely interested in people and their personal lives.

He was a huge Gator Fan and his hobbies included all Gator Sports, hunting, fishing, skiing, and spending time with his family.

The Family invites friends and family to please join us for a Celebration of Life service on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Ocala at 2pm. The Service will be offered via live stream at facebook.com/fbcocala or fbcocala.org.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to one of Wayne’s favorite charities, Interfaith Emergency Services, iesmarion.org or Habitat for Humanity of Marion County , habitatocala.org.
