Obituary
Deborah (Debi) Travers Combs, 70 was called to the Lord on February 18, 2022, in Ocala, Florida.
Debi was born in 1951 in Winchester, Virginia, to the late George and Marylyn Travers. She was a graduate from James Wood High School of the class of 69 and from the University of Maryland. Debi’s range of work and jobs was amazing from working at Shentel Telephone Company, Telex Machine Operator for Capitol Records, Security Office Manager & Money Room Accountant at The Charlestown Racetrack, Horsemen’s Bookkeeper at Calder, Gulfstream Park and Hialeah Racetracks in South Florida. Group Sales and Customer Relations at Aqueduct, Belmont and Saratoga Racetracks in New York and a wine Tastings Guide and Sever for Heron Hill Winery, New York.
Debi married Don Combs on May12, 1979 in the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Stephenson, Virginia. She was member of The United Methodist Church in Virginia, West Virginia, New York, and Florida.
She loved to live life to the fullest, she was a people person, she always helped and cared for others, always remembering their names and their children’s names and always asked about them she always asked the names of our servers to be personable. She had been active in the SVRAACA, a Lady of
the Moose member, Oak Run Garden Club.
Debi loved the beach, shelling, shopping, dancing, golfing, and MahJong as well as Roulette and Slots and she had the most amazing matching Outfits-from shoes to hats that you could imagine.
She was preceded in death by brother Tim Travers.
Debi is survived by her husband Don, nephew Chris (Laura) Travers, grand niece and nephew Ashlyn and Creighton, Krista Underwood, Carleigh Underwood Diaz and Justin Underwood chosen sisters Nancy Wingfield, and very dear family friends Connie Jackson and Daniel Boyce.
A Celebration of Life for Debi and her father George will be held in Winchester Virginia in June 2022, and there will also be a celebration in Ocala, Florida at a date to be determined.
Family asks that Memorials be made to your local Methodist Church in Debi’s memory.
