Obituary

Deborah (Debbie) Diane Stanaitis passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021

Debbie was born on February 25th 1951 in Scotland County, North Carolina.  She was the beloved daughter of Howard R. Beatty and Sarah (Betty) Tucker Beatty.  The Beattys moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in the late 1950s. Debbie attended New Smyrna Beach High School, Class of 1970.  She married Frank A. Stanaitis, Sr. on January 13, 1970.  They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary this year.  Debbie’s children are Melissa (Stanaitis) Rubin of California and Frank Stanaitis, Jr. who resides in Central Florida.

Debbie’s compassionate personality and kind hearted manner is what she will always be most remembered for.  She was a devout follower of Christ and stood in the truth of His light.  She was a woman of great integrity.   As a mother and wife, she stood by her family with the greatest love and even greater patience.  She was an outstanding woman who cared greatly for others.  She wore her heart upon her sleeve and could bring you at ease with the gentleness in her beautiful blue eyes. A magnificent role model for her granddaughters; she cherished them and was incredibly proud of each of them. She embraced being a Nana with her whole being.

Debbie enjoyed nature and spending time in her garden.  She was a keen home decorator and took pride in the charming ambiance of her home.   She absolutely adored animals and over the years she was the loving mom to her dogs, cats, fish, and even a hamster.

If she had a message to extend to her family and friends it would be to be kind and compassionate to one another. “Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.” —Scott Adams

She is survived by her mother Sarah (Betty) Beatty, husband Frank A. Stanaitis, Sr., son Frank Stanaitis, Jr. (Rosie), daughter Melissa Rubin (Robert), her sisters Linda Halligan and Sherrie Schwoerer (Randy), sister-in-laws Annabelle Robinson, Marcella (Sissy) Murphy, and Patricia (Patty) Gerowski (Bill).  Granddaughters Daisy Rubin, Lucy Rubin and Cheyenne Stanaitis. Toby and Gracie, her beloved pets.  Many nieces and nephews who she enjoyed watching grow up to become parents and grandparents.  Her aunt Patricia Young, uncle David Beatty and her loving cousins, many who treasured her love and she them.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in 2022

I didn't know Deborah, but I have gotten to know my distant cousin, Melissa Rubin. Reading the obituary, I see all the same wonderful traits that I have found in Melissa. My heart goes out to all of you. Life and death are only on opposite sides of the same coin, so know that she is still with you will forever find yourself smiling at some random memory of her at the most unexpected times. For the past 20 years I have found that I had been unaware that I had smiling while waking down the street, thinking of my parents, and having strangers return my smile which alerted me to the fact that I had been smiling. Those we love are always with us and maybe, when you catch yourself smiling, it's a way that they continue to communicate with us.
