Obituary
On Thursday, June 18, 2020, Dee Ann Arends-McCormick, loving wife of Tom McCormick, passed away suddenly at her home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Dee was born on August 23, 1952 in Wellsburg, Iowa. She was the daughter of Arnold and Helen (Geerdes) Arends. She graduated from Wellsburg High and Iowa State University. She worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation and as a real estate agent in Atlanta, GA for many years. She and Tom retired to New Smyrna Beach in 2007. It was important for her to stay healthy, so she was an avid runner, loved the water, played tennis and enjoyed participating in belly dancing, Zumba and water aerobics. She had a passion for friends and loved reading, gardening and Sudoko.
She is survived by her husband, Tom; brother, Ron (Karen) Arends of Cedar Falls, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sharon Bradley of Jacksonville, Florida; niece, Amanda Arends of Portland, Oregon; nephews, Dan Arends of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Dan (Marcie) Bradley of Jacksonville, Florida and Thomas (Meghan) Bradley of Orange Park, Florida and many grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Celebration of Life in Dee’s memory will be held Thursday, June 25, 2020, reserved for family and friends. Her ashes will be scattered at sea in a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, Dee’s wish was that memorials be made to Halifax Health Hospice Care or to the Joe Biden election campaign.
