Obituary

Delma Douglas Dunn, (95), of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024.

Delma Dunn, fondly known as D.D., was born to Marwood and Willie Ruth Dunn, on November 10, 1928, in Olla, Louisiana.

As a Veteran of the US Navy, D.D. was a Naval Aviator who bravely flew combat missions in both the Korean and Vietnam wars.  He retired quietly in 1972 and moved to rural Arkansas after serving his country with honor for 25-years.  As a father, D.D.  provided a stable and loving home where his children were raised to respect God, Country and each other.  He was always available to provide wisdom and kind advice when it was most needed.  His reverent and independent virtues were an integral part of who he was until the moment of his passing.

D.D. was preceded in death by his loving wife Anne; his parents; siblings; and three children from a previous marriage.  He’s survived by his daughter Susan; sons Robert and Richard; and three grandchildren.

His family has organized a Celebration of Life to honor D.D.’s life and military service, which will be held at Butterfield Trail Village on Friday May 03, 2024, at 1:00 pm.  Arrangements entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449.  Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com

DD was a friend of our family; he will be missed very much. He touched our lives in so many ways. He helped with our transition to Arkansas. We are ever grateful for his witty sayings; and know that he is in a better place. He was a wonderful person; who touched us with his caring, and always was there if needed. We spent some Christmas time together, and he would visit us often. His loss is God's gain.

    To the Dunn family:

It was nice to meet Delma's family. John King did a good job with the service and also the son who told about what a good father Delma was. I am very sorry that you lost your father but I could tell he had the privilege of having a family that loved and looked up him. Losing someone you love if of course never easy but hope all of you find peace knowing that Delma is at peace.
