Obituary

Delores Ann Hershberger, best known as “Dee” or “Hershey”, 74, of Orlando, FL passed away peacefully at her memory care facility in Winter Springs, FL on November 23, 2025.

Dee was born in Spencer, WV but lived most of her life in Central Florida. As a graduate of UCF (Florida Technological University), Dee went on to teach physical education in Orange county for 35 years, where she touched so many lives with her passion for education, love for children and people and her BIG heart. Dee had the kindest soul and the deepest love for her family and everyone around her. Dee will be remembered as being the BEST daughter, sister, aunt, friend, co-worker and neighbor and someone who was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Dee is preceded in death by both of her parents and is survived by her sister Sherry Hall and niece Teia Harner (both of Orlando), as well as many loved ones and friends.

No formal services will be held. Donations can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at Arden Courts Winter Springs for their exceptional care of Dee and they will always be considered “Hershey Heroes”.

‘Hershey” was such a huge part of my children’s’ life growing up. She was an icon at Durrance Elementary. Her dedication to ‘her’ children was unmatched. From safety patrol, flag corp and all totally she was loved my all. We hadn’t seen her in several years, but kept in touch with her long after my children left Durrance, middle, high school and even college. She attended many of our holiday parties -,alway with her huge smile and loving heart.

She was one of a kind and will certainly be missed by many.

I met Dee about 11 years ago through one of her neighbors. We clicked and became good friends over the years calling each other every few weeks and months. Dee was the kindest person ever. I will miss her greatly. Fly high Dee, you deserve it!

I met miss Dee about 10 years ago when I moved in next door to her. She was very friendly and welcoming. I loved her like she was my family she stayed up with me all night when my daughter passed away. She was always there for me anytime I needed her for anything. She would come and take care of our dog when my husband and I went out of town sometimes. She loved everyone. I never heard her say anything bad about anybody at any time. Rest easy my sweet friend until we meet again. I’ll go on missing you.

I met Miss Dee about 10 years ago when I moved in next door to her. She was ALWAYS there for me especially the evening when my daughter passed away. She stayed with me all night making sure I was going to be ok. She was the best neighbor ever. If you needed something she would go out of her way to help you get it I remember a time when I had some guys come over to give me an estimate on my fence. I wasn’t home at the time. She came running down to my house and drilled the guys. From that time on I would make sure I would let her know if someone was coming over. She could make me laugh all the time. I have been missing her since she moved to Winter Springs I’m just sorry I didn’t get a chance to see her. Rest. Easy Miss Dee. Until we meet again I’ll go on missing you.

My family & I first met Dee around 1971 after officially sponsoring and adopting her. Dee had just moved to Orlando from West Virginia and was instantly loving and fun to be around - imagine that! She had just enrolled in college at FTU, now UCF and somehow tackled a crazy schedule and managed surviving the new chapter in her life. She always met things head-on. with grit and determination yet always made time for us. Dee was always "cool/hip/with it" and filled with more infectious positive energy than just about anyone I've ever known - imagine that! She took my brother Ron & I on dates with her to places like Li'l 500, Ronnie's Restaurant, Apollo launches at Cape Kennedy, fishing, beaches, pools, and to events at the young FTU campus. Not once did she treat us kids (or anyone!) harshly or unfairly yet never but always set fine examples on how to take on life's challenges and dance with them, fast or slow - imagine that! She sure was quite the dancer and would spontaneously jump up and dance back then - imagine that! The Dee I know is surely fast dancing around heaven right now, too. On behalf of the Hines family, we love you and will be mighty to dance (fast AND slow) one day in heaven - I can imagine that!
